Lana Del Rey Kicked Off Coquette Fall In a Princess Updo and Butterfly Clip

Get out your hair bows, leg warmers, and cherry-colored lipstick: Coquette fall has officially commenced, thanks to Lana Del Rey. The queen of the aesthetic is making the case for the cutesy trend this season with a dainty accessory that completed her red carpet hairstyle.

The singer stepped out in Los Angeles last night, October 24, to celebrate the inaugural InStyle Imagemaker Awards, which honors the creatives behind fashion’s most iconic looks. Molly Dickson, Del Rey’s stylist, was honored with an award, and we can see why: The singer arrived wearing a sheer frothy gown from Alessandro Michele’s first collection from Valentino, paired with a pretty updo adorned with a butterfly clip.

Del Rey combined two of fall’s biggest hair trends, sweeping her long brown hair into an effortless princess updo and tying it all together with a cute clip accessory. It looks like her hair was pinned in the back, likely in a bun or twisted style. Her hair was swept to the side, showing off the lighter highlights in her front pieces. A few strands were left out to frame her face in a pretty curled ringlet, and the look was tied together with a gemstone-encrusted butterfly clip.

Fans of the star know that butterfly symbolism plays a part in Del Rey’s discography (she even has a song called “Happiness is a Butterfly). While the clip might not be anything more than cutesy, we’d like to think it could be an Easter Egg for her supposed upcoming country album, Lasso.

For makeup, Del Rey donned her signature cat-eye liner, courtesy of Etienne Ortega. The liner was topped with a pinky brown eyeshadow that brought a pop of rosy color to her otherwise neutral outfit. She matched her eyeshadow with a similar pinky blush and rosy-toned lipstick that brought the glam to life.
