Charli XCX Traded Her Signature Black Manicure For a Softer Fall Shade

When Charli XCX steps out of the house you can bet she’s wearing her hair in long loose waves and that she has on a shiny black manicure. Black nails have become a staple for the singer, and it’s rare to see her change things up. So, when we saw her wearing a new shade of polish at the LACMA Gala, we had to pay attention.

By now, you’ve likely heard about the LACMA Arts and Films Gala that happened in Los Angeles over the weekend. Charli performed, Kim Kardashian wore a Betty Boop bob, and everyone wore Gucci. The Brat singer arrived in a shimmery two-piece set with her go-to soft goth glam and an unexpected chai latte manicure.

It’s hard to spot her manicure from far away—the light shade of nude blends into her nails as a true your-nails-but-better shade, a rare choice for the singer. Charli’s nail artist, Sreynin Peng, opted to use her natural nails as a base, and they were slightly rounded off for a put together feel. The beige hue looks just like the color of a warm chai latte, which just screams fall. Switching up from her usual black to the nude added another element of softness to her glam for the night.

Shades of browns have been everywhere in the nail department this fall, with Selena Gomez kicking off the chai latte nail trend earlier this season. The light beige is a fall spin on the classic nude that is dressed-up while still appearing effortless.

Through and through, Charli is the queen of soft goth makeup and her Gala glam by Kali Kennedy was no different. Her lashes and waterline were lined with a black eyeliner for lots of definition, but it was smoked out with a gray shade of eyeshadow for a softer feel. Her base was glowy and highlighted, and with an emphasis on the eyes, she completed the look with a pared-back nude gloss that looked so similar to her polish shade.

Is it the most exciting nail look in the world? No, but seeing the singer try on something new is always exciting! Plus, with her co-sign, chai latte nails are here to stay this fall.
