Editor Favorite Conceal & Correct Products By Tarte Cosmetics

I will never forget when I got my hands on Tarte’s iconic (perhaps an understatement) Shape Tape Concealer. At the time, I was a tired college student with dark circles begging to be brightened, and one tiny dot did just that. It quickly became a reliable staple in my makeup routine (along with other products from the brand). Today, it’s one of the bestselling concealers and has been for several consecutive years. It was the concealer of the late 2010s.

Not long after that, I started my career in the beauty industry, where I had the opportunity to test makeup from hundreds of different brands. Naturally, my makeup collection became bloated, and other concealers I tried took Shape Tape’s spot in my product rotation.

Then, last year, I went down a Tarte rabbit hole when I fell in love with its Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump Gloss. I got my hands on Shape Tape (and the new versions of it) and tested the brand’s new color corrector. I was quickly reminded why the brand has dominated the concealer and corrector categories—the formulas are fantastic, and the shade ranges are inclusive. So ahead, I’m sharing the concealing and correcting products (plus some others) that we at Byrdie can’t get enough of.

Starting with the obvious: the original Shape Tape Concealer. It’s the gold standard in full-coverage concealers. The creamy formula is incredibly pigmented; a dot or two is all you need to cover dark circles, blemishes, and hyperpigmentation completely. It’s matte and super long-wearing, making it a great option for people with oily skin or those who like a full-coverage look. Plus, it’s available in nearly 40 shades, ranging from very fair to very deep in a variety of undertones.

While I love me some OG Shape Tape, I prefer this medium coverage version under my eyes because the hyaluronic acid-infused formula is a bit more hydrating and natural looking. The texture is fairly lightweight and easy to blend, and while it’s slightly radiant, I don’t find it greasy or prone to migrating, especially when I lock it in place with setting powder. If you’re into a natural-looking concealer that blurs but doesn’t cover absolutely everything, you can’t go wrong with this one.

Color-correcting is an often omitted step in makeup routines as many people feel concealers do a similar job. But I’ve found it makes a massive difference in my makeup look, especially since I struggle with pretty deep purple and blue tones under my eyes. This creaseless formula is offered in five pigmented, color-correcting shades and layers beautifully under concealer. One tester said that applying this under her eyes made her makeup look brighter overall, and I completely agree—it definitely leaves me looking more wide awake.
