Nicole! Penélope! Dua! Those were just some of the names who flocked to the historic and newly renovated Grand Palais right in the heart of Paris for the long-awaited couture debut of Matthieu Blazy as Chanel creative director. Against a poetic set filled with giant pink and red mushrooms, models (including Awar Odhiang and Liu Wen) emerged from backstage showcasing Blazy’s collection, which took the fabled French fashion house in a lighter, softer direction. Sheer and transparency were in high order. Jeans, tank tops, and the quilted Chanel handbag were crafted in silks and sheer organzas. The iconic Chanel suit was reinterpreted in chiffon. Not even a torrential downpour on the streets of Paris was enough to dampen our first glimpse at spring on the Chanel catwalk on day two of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week.
Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2026 Collection Review
Read below the reacitons of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“What a snoozefest of a collection. It looks like it’s made from leftovers of the debut show honestly. I don’t see any effort or push in doing something different.” [FashionPower]
“Just as I predicted. His couture gonna be very sloppy, and when it comes to shape and structure, he is even more bland and flat than Virginie Viard.” [chanelh]
“One matronly sack after the next. He has such a bad eye for form. Everything is his usual flavor of dowdy. The silhouettes are dumpy, the skirt lengths are dwarfing, and his abuse of shirring is criminally ugly.” [Squizree]
“My main issue, as with last season, is a lack of polish. Some of the looks feel messy, and there’s too much going on texturally. With Chanel, less really is more.” [GivenchyHomme]
“Is Haute Couture in the room with us? A boring collection accompanied by a boring casting.
I was expecting much better.” [WAVES]
“When you thought Dior was bad, Chanel lowers the bar. This is so beyond mundane. Not even the little arts and crafts projects over embellishing saves this collection. Another designer with nothing to say or to inspire.” [dancv]
