The “soft goth” aesthetic is having a moment right now. Everyone is opting for black nails, just-bitten lips, and edgy styles that just dip a toe into being emo. The latest example? Adele’s new nails, which toe the line between goth and glam.
If you aren’t familiar, Adele loves a cool, intricate manicure (think: gold details, cool French designs, and tiny gemstones). Hailey Bieber’s nail artist, Zola Ganzorigt, also works with the singer and crafted her newest set for Weekend 46 of her Vegas Residency. Just in time for spooky season, her smoky gunmetal nails felt festive without being too on-the-nose.

The singer opted for a long square base, which was a refreshing change for the “Hello” singer who usually prefers classic almond and rounded silhouettes. It looks as though the nails were painted with a smoky grey color that was topped with a reflective chrome to give it that shiny, gunmetal effect. It’s tough to tell if the nails had a design placed in the center, but you can tell that they were flecked with gold shimmer. In the photos, the light reflects off her nails, illuminating the subtle warm shine.

Equal parts polished and a little bit goth, Adele’s nails paired perfectly with her all-black beaded Gaurav Gupta gown and old Hollywood-inspired glam. She wore her copper hair in voluminous waves, pairing it with her signature makeup: A black thick cat eye, pinky blushed cheeks, and a rosy lipgloss.
Last year, Adele celebrated the Halloween season with bloody Frenchies and jet black hair, which is giving full goth. While the “soft goth” aesthetic is based on Wednesday Addams’s character’s moody hair and dark lip, in the nail department, we’d say Adele’s smoky chrome set checks all the boxes and is further proof that the aesthetic is here to stay.
