Vogue Japan might not be the magazine it once was, but that doesn’t mean that the Japanese fashion bible has completely fallen off our radar. Throughout 2025, covers with Lulu Tenney, Amelia Gray, Kiko Mizuhara, Anna Sawai, Alex Consani, Lila Moss, and Rina Sawayama have commanded our attention (for reasons both good and bad). Up next on the cover of Vogue Japan is Chloe Oh, who graces the January 2026 issue of the magazine. As Tiffany Godoy exits the title as head of editorial content, the editor commissioned Fumiko Imano to profile the South Korean model. In the cover photograph, the industry favorite is styled by Yoko Miyake on location at contemporary artist Mori Mariko’s atelier in Miyakojima, Japan.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“If this will be the new creative direction of the magazine following Godoy’s exit, I’m not a fan,” disapproved callmejaeden upon checking out the cover.
“2026 is off to an abysmal start,” cried out marsnoop2.
“Vogue Taiwan 2016, is that you?” asked Bertrando3. “AWFUL!”
Also far from impressed was forum member Ihhbl. “I really dislike it. The hair and makeup look awful, and she’s looking expressionless,” they critiqued.
“I actually like the dress. That’s about it,” shared Linh Bui.
“I just find the cover very different and fresh,” MModa confessed.
“Fun and graphic,” admired forum member jeremydante.
