Dua Lipa has gone black to back. For as long as we can remember the singer has donned red hair, until now, that is. The singer traded in her cherry cola red hair for a darker hue just in time for spooky season.
Yesterday, October 17, Lipa performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London after a tour of major performances during festival season. The singer posted heartfelt photo dumps to Instagram after the show, cheekily poking to the hair change in her caption writing, “Back to my roots.” Although the new change felt especially glam, the meaningful reason behind the swap made it even better.

Matt Rez is the colorist behind Lipa’s new black licorice color, a true black shade. Hairstylist Peter Lux styled the new color in vintage waves, which allowed the new hue to have its moment. Lipa wore her hair parted to the side and styled in big voluminous waves. For a fresh color change, the Radical Optimism singer’s strands looked extra shiny and bouncy.
“Omggggg black hair supremacy,” said a fan in the comments. “We are so baaaack (but the red hair will be missed!!)” said another.

For glam, Lipa kept things softer and pared-back, letting the hair take center stage. She wore the tiniest bit of black mascara with fluffy brows and a pinch of rosy blush across her cheeks. The look was complete with a touch of highlight to add some glow to her complexion and dusty pink lipstick. Lipa was styled by Jahleel Weaver who solidified the glamorous aesthetic of the hair and makeup with an all-black Chanel look featuring a cut-out crop top and flouncy tulle skirt.
Finally, the fall hair trends feel a bit balanced. After months of new-fall blondes, Lipa’s black licorice hair feels apt for the chilly weather ahead.
