Today, the world lost a legend with the passing of Valentino Garavani. He was 93 and earned himself the title of The Last Emperor following the release of the 2008 documentary, in which filmmakers shot over 250 hours of footage with exclusive access to Valentino and his entourage. The legendary Italian designer founded his label in 1960 and quickly cemented himself as one of the key architects of 20th-century glamour. Stars like Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Princess Diana, and Gwyneth Paltrow wore his designs – including the designer’s signature ravishing shade of red. The couturier passed away at his home in Rome, surrounded by loved ones. Garavani will lie in state in Rome for two days before a funeral on Friday, January 23.
