It’s tiiiimmeeee…to go blonde, that is. Blondes have taken over this fall, and swapping darker shades for lighter hues has never been more popular. Just ask Mariah Carey, who hopped onto the blonde trend just ahead of her highly anticipated Christmas tour.
The queen of the holiday season is back, kicking off the first leg of her tour earlier last week in California, and debuting a fresh color in the process. Carey has long been a blonde, but has always mixed caramel and honey shades together for a lived-in, bronzy shade. At her first show, however, she looked like a true snow queen with a new chantilly shade.

As one of the most popular hair color trends for fall, chantilly blonde features a blend of bright and soft tones that’s reminiscent of a chantilly cake. Carey’s new shade featured finer highlights than her usual color, for an all-over brightness that was the perfect mix of warm and cool blondes. It was styled exactly how you’d imagine it: In long, glamorous waves with a side part and dramatic swoop.
Before going brighter, Carey was known for a honey blonde shade that leaned more caramel. The “bronde” (blonde and brunette) style has become a signature of the singer’s glam, but the bright new shade is the perfect fall switch up. Although it’s more common to trade up for darker shades (like chocolate browns and jet blacks), fall’s blonde trend has been an unexpected one, gaining co-signs from Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and now Carey.

While the tour is just getting started, you can expect to see Carey in her holiday best: shimmery gowns and red sequined dresses paired with soft glam that is bound to bring some festive cheer.
All I want for Christmas? Hair just like Carey’s. We’ll be looking to the singer’s blonde refresh for inspiration all winter long.
