Meghan Markle’s California spin on classic silhouettes never gets old. The Duchess of Sussex has cemented her signature style as laidback modern royalty, and her latest red carpet look highlights this aesthetic perfectly.
On Friday October 5, Markle made an appearance at the 2024 CHLA Gala in Los Angeles wearing a reworked red gown from Caroline Herrera that she previously wore to an event (she’s a sustainable Duchess). She wore the no-frills gown with no jewlery, pairing it with matching red shoes and styling her hair in laidback mermaid waves.

With her fresh summer glow, Markle’s long mermaid strands were giving “I just got home from the beach” in the prettiest way. She parted her dark brown hair in the center and her hair was curled into soft ringlets. Throughout the waves you could see the flecks of lighter brown highlights that shined in her hair. Speaking of, Markle’s hair looked so sleek and soft with the shine of what appeared to be a fresh gloss. In short, it was the perfect effortlessly chic hairstyle.
The rest of her glam kept the simple yet polished approach—her complexion was glowy and bronzed with a pop of pink blush on her cheeks. She completed the makeup with a swipe of mascara and a nude lip, and her blush manicure tied the neutral glam together.

You don’t have to book a trip to the beach to get the same vacation-worthy waves. A waving iron or heatless curlers get the job done just as well so you too can emulate Markle’s California chic mermaid waves on fall nights out.
