Rina Sawayama Makes Her Vogue Japan Cover Debut for December 2025

Vogue Japan might not be the magazine it once was, but that doesn’t mean that the Japanese fashion bible has completely fallen off our radar. Throughout 2025, covers with Lulu Tenney, Amelia Gray, Kiko Mizuhara, Anna Sawai, Alex Consani, and Lila Moss have commanded our attention (for reasons both good and bad). Up next on the cover of Vogue Japan is Rina Sawayama, who graces the December 2025 issue of the magazine. The Japanese singer-songwriter makes her Japanese Vogue cover debut via the lens of the photographic duo Sean + Seng. Against a grey studio backdrop, Sawayama is dressed by cover shoot stylist Gerry O’Kane in a dress from the Miu Miu Fall 2025 collection of Miuccia Prada.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“This looks lovely,” immediately confessed mikel upon checking out the cover.

“For Japan to show tattoos on the cover is a breakthrough. I’m into it. Sean + Seng are everywhere lately, in a really good way,” shared alwaysademo.

“Yes, I thought the same thing about tattoos on a Japanese magazine cover (let alone Vogue!) being quite groundbreaking,” callmejaeden echoed.

Iriswills commented: “Fashion really seems to be embracing tattoos lately. Interesting. I have always enjoyed them, so I definitely do not mind. This cover is quite beautiful in its simplicity!”

“I didn’t even notice the tattoos until they were pointed out, because I was too distracted by the beauty of the cover itself. A very solid cover offering from Vogue Japan, I love this. The color palette is flawless, love those grey tones and the sense of minimalism and femininity,” voiced vogue28.
