Selena Gomez’s Fall Lip Combo Is Soft Goth Perfection

Have you tried the soft goth makeup trend? Its moniker might be intimidating (it’s also sometimes referred to as “dark feminine” makeup), but the aesthetic is surprisingly wearable. Selena Gomez’s latest look is proof: The multi-hyphenate nailed the trend that balances soft glam with an edgy lip combo at the London Film Festival over the weekend.

Soft goth makeup can be worn anytime, but the spooky season feels especially fitting to try out the trend. It balances a dark vampy lip color with matte skin and a soft, blown-out eye look for a balanced take on classic goth makeup. Gomez’s take on the trend was just that, and lucky for us, her makeup artist revealed the exact lip combination he used to get the wine-stained lip look.

Hung Vanngo, Gomez’s makeup artist, posted a close-up of the look on Instagram, calling out that the duo used Rare Beauty’s Kind Words Lipstick and Lip Liner in the shade Gifted, a reddish plum, to achieve the burgundy lip combination. Using the same color for the lipstick and liner created a super-saturated color, with Gomez’s liner being just a tad darker to enhance the fullness of her pout. Vanngo paired the statement lip with the tiniest pop of red blush on her cheeks and a sharp winged eyeliner topped with wispy black lashes.

The Emilia Perez actor opted for a low, no-fail bun, letting the vampy glam makeup have its moment. Her hair was parted down the middle and slicked back with a glossy sheen courtesy of hairstylist Renato Campora.

Another major fall trend Gomez co-signed with her look was the ’80s statement button earrings she wore with her Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2024 gown. The black earring looked just like a button on a fancy coat and added to the dramatic glamour vibes of the ensemble.
