The designer shake-ups within the world of fashion continue. Pieter Mulier is exiting Alaïa, following a rather remarkable five-year tenure. Mulier became the first creative director to oversee the Paris-based fashion house, following the death of the maison’s founder, Azzedine Alaïa in 2017. Collection after collection, the Belgian designer has propelled Alaia to new heights, with his architectural and refined sense of sensibility. The Richemont-owned brand (experiencing a 52% year-over-year revenue growth in 2024) confirmed the designer’s departure, adding that “the studio will ensure continuity in the interim period until a creative organization is confirmed.” Mulier is scheduled to conclude his tenure as creative director following the Summer/Fall 2026 show presentation during Paris Fashion Week this March. Rumors remain rampant that Mulier is heading to Versace (after the abrupt exit of Dario Vitale).
